TIPS & TRICKS
If you are interested in building a blessing box, you have come to the right place! While The Community Food Truck is not adding any additional locations, we have several of tips and tricks we have learned over the years to share with you about building and maintaining a blessing box of your own. We hope this helps guide your journey, but if you have any questions along the way, don't hesitate to reach out at hello@thecommunityfoodtruck.com.
TIPS & TRICKS FOR BUILDING
-
Build the blessing box with a slanted roof, I would even encourage using shingles to help prevent weathering.
-
MDO plywood weathers better than regular.
-
When painting the blessing box, use exterior, weather shield paint.
-
Two shelves inside the blessing box seem to work well, one shelf tall enough for a cereal box and the other tall enough for can goods.
-
Have "non-perishable food only" painted on the box somewhere.
-
Install the blessing box on a post and set it in concrete.
TIPS & TRICKS FOR MAINTAINING
-
We recommend keeping the blessing box filled with only nonperishable food.
-
Be prepared to fill the blessing box daily or every other day.
-
Clean the inside and handles of the blessing box regularly.
-
Watch for expired, perishable, or open food anonymously put in the blessing box.
